A Day of Culture - mmm

Only the second day of this 2 week course of swimming lessons and I am already fed up of having to be out of the house by 8.45am.  What a drag.  That only gives me 2 and a half hours to come too in the morning and it is barely enough.  At least I'm not making packed lunches as well.

Jacob has already gone into detail about the local museum so I shall just say that it was a proper museum full of huge collections of victorian vehicles, agricultural implements and cast iron tools that look slightly gruesome and make you feel a bit itchy and want to wash your hands repeatedly.  The rescued buidings were quite neat in a decrepit sort of a way and the school was really cute.  It very much made me think of Laura Ingalls.

Hows that for a spanner collection Dad?

The medieval exhibition (referred to by J as the arts and crafts gallery, he obviously learnt a lot) was excellent.  Not a genuine artefact in sight and the kids could have played there for days.  Needless to say we returned with all sorts of tat that will blight the house until it can be discreetly recycled, including 2 cardboard knights helmets, 2 cardboard stained glass windows and a massive assortment of word searches, quizzes and things to colour in.  Also inexplicably a toy writing slate and a pink plastic snake, I must have had a weak moment!

Brave knights

Of course, there was also a rather passed it, but nonetheless enjoyed play area.
