Wow, it's like a really difficult spot the difference isn't it. You wouldn't believe how long it took to choose exactly the same colour!
To be fair, what you can't see on these pics is that there are no longer any woodpecker holes and that all the boards which had cracked and fallen off over the winter have been tidied and covered up.
I've been watching quite a bit of Grand Designs recently and a lot of people back in the UK are cladding their homes with untreated larch and claiming that it will last forever with protection from its own natural resins bla bla. Well Kevin Mccloud, I give them 39 years before its all falling apart and full of small creatures, there's a bit of doom and gloom for you.
Looks fab though my faith in Kevin McCloud is now ruined.... :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, perhaps Kevin is talking about some sort of super larch, or maybe when it doesn't get subjected to such vast ranges of temperature it lasts a bit longer.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great new siding. While it is similar, it has its own new unique features. And, as you mentioned, it is not full of woodpecker holes or any other aged problems. But I do agree, it must feel weird having someone walking around your roof all day. Makes sense why you did not get a chance to blog. Enjoy the new siding!
ReplyDeleteFantastic photos! It isn't hard at all to see the big difference. My father-in-law had the same kind of wood siding on a mobile home he purchased. When he replaced it with siding just like you did, it made such a huge difference. My mother-in-law swears it was her idea, but then she always does whenever something wonderful happens. I love the new look!
